a wooden die

made this using some leftover wood as a birthday gift for a friend. the main body is a square walnut dowel that i cut and sanded more or less to a cube, and the pips are a cherry dowel that i carved to the right thickness and jammed in with superglue.

i had some tear out while drilling the holes on this side. fortunately i was able to recover by mixing some superglue and walnut sawdust and using that to fill the gap back up after i had glued each sides' pips in.

unfortunately, said tear out also meant that the drill bit slipped into my thumb, which did make a moderate cut. hence the tape used as bandage:

the dice before finish was applied

i finished with some wax that i had leftover as well. turned out cool! i did test it with 100 rolls to see how fair it was and it was actually not too bad - 3s and 5s came in at roughly 13% which supposedly was just within the bounds of "fair" according to the website that i did this on.
